Robbery on Venable Street
The RTD has details on a robbery last night on the 2200 block of Venable Street:
The man was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of a facial laceration after the robbery try, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. [...] The victim said 3-4 males confronted him and ordered him to give them his money, and when the victim told them he didn’t have any, they struck him in the face with an unknown object and ran.

I am constantly baffled why Richmond is not not up in arms to demand that something is done about the crime problem. Mayor Jones went on and on about the economy in his recent speech, are elected leaders not outraged about what a dangerous city Richmond is? How much does it hurt the economy that many people don’t want to live work or play anywhere near downtown? New Yorkers cleaned up Times Square for heaven’s sake. Can’t they put together a plan to make Richmond a more desireable place? I’d like to see a candidate for mayor running on a platform to make our city safe. This could cross party lines as everyone would benefit, and huge economic rewards would follow.
One guess where most of the crime originates in Union/Church Hill. The projects! Get rid on them and the crime will go as well…
Marcus Aurelius said that “Poverty is the mother of crime.”
Poverty has been a tenant in Church Hill for decades.
Eesh. I called the ambulance for this man.
