715 Mosby went before Planning Commission today
The agenda for the City Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, September 7, 2010 (PDF) at 1:30PM included this:
Ord.No2010-128: To authorize the special use of the property known as 715 Mosby Street for the purpose of constructing a mixed-use building with up to three (3) units for commercial uses and two (2) units for dwelling uses, upon certain terms and conditions.
Good grief – how big is that lot?
Isn’t this the same place where the Mosby Market took up in the old KFC building (later some type of church) after there were plans drawn up to build a small strip mall there? Then the owner said he was “renting” the building out temporarily to have tenants in the building – yet the lots next to it suddenly came up for sale pretty much killing the strip mall idea?
This is that project, yes, but you have some of the details off. The original proposal caught some folks short, it came across as fairly suburban. They’ve reworked the design a time or two and are working through the process of getting everything approved by the city. The most recent plans were presented at a UHCA meeting a month or two back and were positively received.
They are renting out the building as they move through the process. The former KFC building will be incorporated into the design, there will be a 2 story mixed use building directly to the north.
True… but was unaware of the multi rework of plans. I knew there was some controvery about the first design but then there was the artist rendering posted on the road prior to the market taking up shop there temporarily and still looked somewhat strip mall – even if it had differen roof levels.
Anything online showing what the approved plans look like? When the owner said he didn’t have that much money with investors and then the plot next to the building came up for “sale”, this seemed like a dead deal. How can you build a complex on land sold (if sold) to someone else and still incorporate the existing building which is occupied? A bit puzzling.
