Murder on 20th Street, shooting on Ford Avenue

The RTD is reporting a fatal shooting in the 1700 block of North 20th Street just before 11PM last night. Several hours later, a woman was non-fatally shot in the 2500 block of Ford Avenue.

This killing is #6 for the East End this year and #19 for the city in 2010. The 6 killings through May match the 6 through May in 2009 (and compare well to the 8 at this point in 2008).

Richmond Police have identified the man found shot to death late last night as William D. Peet, 29, of the 1700 block of North 20th Street.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to an apartment at 1714 N. 20th St. for a report of a person down inside a residence, and found Peet dead at the scene.

Investigators believe this homicide was not a random act.

I wonder if this is the same William D. Peet that pled guilty to possesion of cocaine with intent to distribute. The judge suspended all but 7 months of his ten years sentence. If not for the suspension, maybe the man would be alive today.
As it is, a young man is dead and there is a murderer probably still in our midst.
Someone knows what happened. Hopefully, they have a conscience, and are or will be soon, speaking to detectives.
