John, (and Harry) – such an incredible (sad) part of our history. Will we ever learn?
Whatever genius decided to make Fulton look like any cheap west end subdivision was only adding bitter insult on top of fatal injury.
One day this area will look like some kind of odd tribute to automobile culture and people will wonder what on earth were we thinking about.
#3 ROB – just FYI, those houses, like them or not, are homes to many people in our community. We’re working hard to make Fulton (meaning all of Greater Fulton) a really great place that respects the past and the present, and sets the stage for the future. We’d be happy for you to join us in a productive and constructive way.
I understand what you’re saying about the present housing stock in Fulton, and I have to respect that. Nevertheless, it sure could have been done in a better way and in a way that I think would have been a nicer place to live for those that are now there.
Call me idealistic, but I will cling to the sweet thought that the Fulton of the past could have better informed the Fulton of the future, could saved a part of one and more enhanced the quality of the other.
Don’t get me wrong – I wish everybody well and look forward to seeing what Fulton eventually turns into, once the issues of the valley, the hills, the waterfront and the industry are all comfortably resolved.
I live in Fulton – and care about the future of Fulton. But those houses look terrible. I cringe at the thought of more being built.
