Just entered the Armstrong football schedule into the calendar. Kind of weird thinking about Nov, still feels like Aug. http://bit.ly/cSFxqD

So fresh and so clean!

The great clean-up was a smashing success today. Props to the Richmond Clean City Commission for the supplies and the Department of Public Works for taking care of our pile. Special thanks to Officer Ford from the First Precinct for helping to organize our crucial drop spot, and to everyone from Unity, New Visions, Union Hill, and Church Hill Central that came out to do the dirty work.

The World’s Smallest Handgun?

What might be The World’s Smallest Handgun was found safe and dry in a pouch tucked behind the vacant brick shed at 20th and R Streets. Contact the Richmond Police if you’ve lost yours.

Behind 1322 North 22nd Street (a Donald Lacey/Stacy Martin house)

I ran across a few spots with more trash than our citizen volunteers could deal with today. I put in notice through the city’s Citizens Request of exceptionally large accumulations of trash at 1206 North 21st Street, 1322 North 22nd Street, and 1003 North 20th Street. The confirmation email gave a “Request Estimated Completion Date” of Tuesday, July 20th. It sure is going to be nice watching these vacant properties collect more trash for 3 months.

Wish i could have been there, i had to work!. Im so glad it went well!

though i hope you did’nt get rid of anything good. i love roaming the alleys and abandoned lots looking for treasures.

and i want those orange chairs!

What I learned from today’s cleanup: convenience store + lottery tickets + cigarettes = one boatload of litter.

The orange chairs are still there as far as I know… Everything that we picked up was complete crap except for maybe the lil’ pistol.

haha mark..if i pick up one more lottery ticket from in front of my house i think ill scream.

once i even saw one floating in down leigh street when a fire hydrant broke. it was so funny..i thought “this is so richmond.”

I wonder if the Fulton lotto signs have made any difference over there.

What I learned from the cleanup is that glass & alum. cans should have a deposit added to the price, so maybe someone will return them to the stores. A big sign needs to be posted that cigaratte butts are not easily degradable! And another one saying PLEASE USE THE TRASH CANS PROVIDED!! McDonald’s should be involved in some sort of recycle effort. Disgusting!

Lets back up ten steps……which good cultural idea and/or who’s upbringing thought it was permissable to toss this stuff “out” in public anyway. The trash had to get out on the street in order to have a clean it up
