Slated for demolition on N Street
The classifieds section of the March 25-27 issue of the Richmond Free Press has a Legal Notice Demolition of Structure listing 6 buildings that “have been condemned and will be demolished by the City of Richmond”, including 3316 N Street.
oh darn! I love that ugly abandonment!
Once it is demolished, someone will build one of those ugly suburban style houses or some ugly asymterical house trying to look like an old house.
There is a new house going up right beside it, to the left. I’m curious to see what it’ll be.
Do they at least try and salvage materials from the houses? Few are completely without something worth while.

I’ve not been by this house, but I’ve seen it from Chimborazo Blvd.; from the photos, it doesn’t look like it’s in such bad shape that its unsalvageable – in fact, it looks pretty sound compared to a lot of other places in the area. Are structures selected by the City for demolition based on neighbors’ complaints (it does look like this place has been a hangout), or does the City have a structural engineer to inspect vacant properties? Does anyone know if this place was ever offered for sale in order that it might be preserved rather than demolished?
i agree iv seen way worse places, structurally speaking..while this onle is unsightly i was surprised to see they were taking it down when others lay in decaying pieces.
