An unidentified man was found shot in the road at North 27th Street and Nine Mile Road at around 11:30PM last night. The victim was taken to VCU/MCV with life-threatening injuries.

“Richmond police today were continuing their investigation of a man who was found with life-threatening injuries after reports of a shooting in the city’s East End.
The man, who was found lying in the middle of the street at the intersection of 27th Street and Nine Mile Road, was transported to VCU Medical Center around midnight and taken directly into surgery, Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said.
Kiniry said witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area around 11:30, and the first officers on scene found the man almost directly in front of Richmond Community Hospital. Kiniry said it was not clear if the man was shot in front of Richmond Community or was shot somewhere else and was making his way there when he was found.
The victim, who appeared to be in his mid 20s, was taken to VCU because Richmond Community does not offer the same level of trauma care.
