Apartment fire on Coalter Street

A dramatic early-morning apartment fire got things jumping today on Coalter Street: At least 19 people suffered minor injuries in a Richmond apartment fire in the 1300 block of Coalter Street Wednesday. Fire officials arrived on scene just after 8:30 a.m. with heavy flames showing from a basement apartment building.

Pitbull found at 28th and Broad

Wildcats finish season 1-9

The Armstrong Wildcats 2009 season finished without a bang in a 48-14 loss to Hanover yesterday. The Wildcats ends with a 1-9 record, having lost 9 straight after beating T.J. to start the season.

Lost dog near Chimborazo

Isis was last seen near the Church Hill Dog Park in Chimborazo on 11/15. She is reddish brown mixed breed dog of about 50 pounds. If you think that you have seen this pet, please call the pet recovery center at 1-888-HomeAgain.

100 days

It has been 100 days since the last murder in the East End. This three-months-plus quiet spell is the longest in the 5 years that this site has been publishing and, given the numbers over the last decade, is probably the longest such stretch in at least 10 years.

Three companies, all managed by Stacy Martin of Hermitage Realty, own 15 vacant houses within 4 blocks of my house (including the 2 pictured above). These companies collectively have over 90 houses on the the city’s Vacant Property Registry, the vast majority of which are in the East End.
