Neglect trial in shooting of 5-year-old continues today

The 11-year-old boy believed to have pulled the trigger in the August 2008 shooting of his 5-year-old niece took the stand yesterday at his mother’s neglect trial:

Authorities said Wright left for work at about 10:40 p.m. on the night of the shooting, and a few minutes later, the boy took a .40-caliber handgun that was in Wright’s gym bag on the bedroom floor where the three children were staying. The boy shot Dominique once in the head while she was on the bed, authorities said.
