#8 Tiny - I agree. I liked it better when there were stop lights, then everyone actually knew when to stop, when to go, and when to walk. I think it was a big waste of a lot of bucks. I watched, on election day, as a bus tried to navigate it and ran over the side of it, then narrowly missed hitting a car that had parked on 25th when someone went in to vote.

Mike #7, I have not googled it but have googled 'traffic calming' and come up with some interesting information. Will try your idea next, thanks.

My 2 cents - I continue to hate the traffic oblong on 25th no matter how many times I am told it is "better". BTW - The city busses really hate the circles. It's just like one poster said, "same old road, only with a giant obstacle in the way".

Jimmy and all the other uninformed folks out there... Please google...

The difference between traffic circles and modern roundabouts

It will certainly not change your life; however, you will appear alot wiser when talking about traffic control devices and types of circular intersections.

There are traffic circles already in Richmond along Brook Rd and Monument Ave. Plus thone that have been installed over the last year or two.

There was one at Hull and Belt for years. It was the biggest pain in the neck and elsewhere. Finally the city saw that mistake and removed it. Now traffoc flows a lot better, but the city traffic engineer or some mail room person seems to think otherwise.

Norfolk had them at several intersections. They was OK back in the 1950's and 1960's but with traffic as it is now days, they saw the light and took those suckers out to free up the back up cause by circles.

Speed bumps are bad as well. They slow down emergency vehicles, such as fire engines, ambulances and the police. No one in their right mind would want speed bumps that may slow down these vital emergency responders coming to your or their homes when you need them fast!!

WTF- why has the CHDP been YET AGAIN ignored! they teamed up last year with Hands on Greater Richmond and spruced up the entire lower chimborazo park area. They're constantly working to keep the park nice, and still they get no credit!?! that doesn't seem at all fair. that park is used constantly and has been a great benefit to our community. shame shame.

A four way stop at 23rd and Fairfield would work better than jamming a circle in that small intersection.

I dunno if this means that those traffic circles are a no go, or if the plan is being reworked. The traffic circles that were called for on southside were much more controversial than ours and that might account for some delay.

The Council will also honor Virginia Voice, HandsOn Greater Richmond, Friends of Chimborazo Playground and Radio One on Monday:
