Shooting in Whitcomb

The RTD is reporting that “a man in his 20s was walking in the 2300 block of Ambrose Street about 9 p.m. when a shot fired from a vehicle hit him in the torso.” The victim is still alive as of this morning; no arrest has been made. This same block has already seen one homicide this year.

Peter Paul man arrested for Broad Street robbery

Reed Williams has a story about a robbery downtown last night that comes back to a local man:

Police chased the suspect and apprehended him at North First and Broad streets. David Evans, 18, of the 1800 block of North 22nd Street was arrested in connection with the robbery, police said. He was smiling as officers escorted him to a police van.

School Board moving quickly on new schools plan?

In a follow-up to Mayor Jones’ push for a new Huguenot High School, the RTD is reporting that “the School Board will meet Thursday for the first of two scheduled work sessions to discuss building new schools” and that “a decision on which schools to build could come as early as Nov. 16.” Is this one of those “School Board meetings where you can be involved in this process”? If not, when is that supposed to happen?

Murder down 33% from last year

Killings in the East End are down 33% this year from last year’s already low count. Although murder city-wide has ticked up from last year, the “notorious” East End continues to show improvement. There have been only 8 people killed by other people in the East End this year (and none since August), as compared to 12 at this time through 2008.
