Meet Me in the Bottom: the Struggle to Reclaim Richmond’s African Burial Ground

Dr. Shawn Utsey, Chair of African American Studies a Virginia Commonwealth University and documentary filmmaker, presents a free showing of his film Meet Me in the Bottom: the Struggle to Reclaim Richmond’s African Burial Ground on Thursday, October 29, at 7PM at the East District Family Resource Center (2405 Jefferson Avenue). Free and open to the public.

    One day, I hope we all shall see a hallowed building, monument, park (or all of the above,) in the place where the bodies of forefathers and foremothers of this country now lie in Shockoe Bottom.
