Movie night at Chimbo next Saturday

Chimborazo is getting in on this year’s movies in the parks bonanza:

Not to be outdone by our neighbors to the west in Jefferson Park, Friends of Chimborazo Park is proud to announce the upcoming showing of THE GOONIES on Saturday July 11.

Festivities begin around 8 PM and the movie starts when dark. Patrons are invited to bring food & drink, friends, and something to sit on and join us in the watching of this family friendly adventure movie.

This event is Sponsored by Chimborazo Dog Park and is being staged as a collaboration by Friends of Chimborazo Park and Yellow House.

Patrons are asked to make a small donation to cover the cost of licensing this film as well as to pay for security. If enough funds are raised, Family Movie Night in the park will become a regular occurrence in Chimborazo Park.

Note: The park closes immediately after the completion of the movie.

Any Questions, please contact Friendsofchimborazo@gmail.com

This is the 2nd movie night organized by Friends of Chimborazo Park. We had a great turn out at our first showing of Raiders of the Lost Ark. If you are interested in helping us, please email at Friendsofchimborazo@gmail.com.

We look forward to another successful and fun evening in Chimborazo Park – see you there!

    YAY!!!! I LOVE GOONIES!!!!

Since Chimborazo’s movie SERIES is independent of the city and recieves no city funds, we are asking for small donations to cover the costs of hiring security as well as for larger ones to cover the cost of licensing a movie. Licensing fees run between $100 and $200 for older movies. Should you want to contribute, you can bring your donations to the movie night or contact me at Friendsofchimborazo@gmail.com for more information. In order for your donation to be tax deductable, checks should be made out to RRPF or Richmond Recreation and Parks Foundation and should say “Friends of Chimborazo” in the for line.

Additionally, I committed a grave injustice in issuing the press release without crediting SETTE as a sponsor. They have made a generous contribution that is supporting the entire movie series this summer. Please patronize their establishment and thank them for their support.

Any news on when/if there might be one for August?

  13. posted by Friends of Chimborazo at August 11, 2009 8:11 am [#]:

There is no movie for August due to heat, vacations, and back to school chaos. But we will try to put on a movie mid September. The dates and even even movie title still need to be squared away before I can say more

Thanks for the update! We had a great time at the last one. We look forward to mid Septmenber.

WOW. I didn’t even know this went down. I just drove by last Friday night a little spot in Oregon Hill to see they do the same thing. We’ll definitely be there in September to supprot this and will be picnicing w/our Sette takeout in hand. Best pizza in town as far as I’m concerned!
