3 kids steal, crash Cadillac

The RTD is reporting that no injuries resulted when 3 juveniles stole and crashed a car last night: Police said the incident ended when the stolen Cadillac crashed at 1 a.m. in the 3900 block of Crestview Road, just south of [Frankin Military Academy].

East End murder count still down over last year

nbc12 reports alarmingly on an increase in the city’s murder count this year over last, but fails to give any perspective: the East End murder count is still down from last year. We’ve had 6 killings so far in 2009, but already had 9 at this time in 2008.

City pools open on Wednesday

The city’s 10 free public pools open tomorrow, June 17 at 1PM. The pools are open Mon-Fri 1-4:30 & 5-8PM, Sat 12-5PM, and Sun 1-5PM.

Scheming developer adds to stockpile of vacant housing

A complex real estate scheme has direct connections to vacant houses the area. Today’s RTD profiles the woe of Donald Lacey, whose companies were “to have bought and renovated fixer-uppers using investors’ money” but instead apparently burned through millions of dollars of investor money on vacation homes, boats, and expensive cars.
