Mayor’s Proposed Budget cuts threaten programs of two East End community centers

The Mayor’s proposed budget cuts funding by 50% to two vital community centers that serve the East End, the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) in Fulton and the East District Family Resource Center on Jefferson Avenue. The majority of other non-profits in the budget, however, will see cuts averaging only 8%.

BHC’s Community Day @ Beckstoffer’s this Sunday

Better Housing Coalition is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this April, and as a part of the celebration are hosting a Community Day event on Sunday April 5 from noon-4PM. The event will be held at the former Beckstoffer’s Lumber Mill at 28th and R Streets.

Is Y’alls Grill closed?

I’ve gotten a bunch of emails asking essentially the same thing: “What’s the scoop on y’alls grill? Their sign is gone and a “closed” sign is in the window.”

25th Street Roundabout closed on Saturday

The 25th Street Roundabout will be closed on Saturday, April 4, so that the City of Richmond’s grounds management division can perform landscaping and aesthetic improvements at the intersection.

Cyclus Bike Shop at 2709 East Marshall Street will be having their re-grand opening today! Noon-whenever, the party will be catered by Mamma Zu. Bike parade to follow leaving at 5:30PM.

Local website “not that funny”

Local “news site” Church Hill People’s News, in a lame attempt at seasonal humor, posted several half-assed April Fools stories early this morning. “I’ve been spending too much time with middle school kids”, site author Murden said when called on his juvenile prank. [via]
