Hi CRD - The NRC employs 4 full-time employees and 4 part-time staff. Two other people work very part time (about 3 hrs/week). Everyone works for a specific program (Montessori preschool, after school programs, etc), except for the two co-executive directors (who also spend a lot of time working on individual programs).

The NRC is unusual from other nonprofits in that the organization raised funds and paid for its building -- so there is no rent and overhead is kept at a bare minimum.

We'd love to show you around anytime! bridgette@nrccafe.org

bridgette, the NRC sounds great. I have one question - I remember from an earlier posting that the NRC exists pretty much on grants and donations, very little government support, which again I think is great. So my question is, do you have any paid staff at all? Not including plans to create jobs with the cafe. Just curious, thanks.

The Fulton Garden is actually the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) Garden. It's located at 1519 Williamsburg Road in Fulton Hill in the old Montrose post office. Come check it out! What's really cool is that we're putting the finishing touches a whole food kitchen/cafe that will use organic fruits/vegetables from the garden. Kids will eat healthy after school snacks, learn about nutrition, and ecology too. We plan to create new jobs in the community managing the kitchen/cafe and offer apprenticeships to youth. Hope you can all join us and learn more.
