A 1975 Ford Pinto or two months rent at Nolde??? That’s a tough one. Does Nolde explode if it’s hit in the rear?
Sam Moore was part owner of this building until a few years back.
it’s too bad huotari couldn’t have opened the king’s retreat here. i could go for a musical right about now.
also, was this the location of the salvation army in the 90s and perhaps before? or was that another building on broad?
What a great sign!
RE #3 – It was a Goodwill, and there were band practice spaces in the back.
Is that a Ford Pinto or an AMC Gremlin? Check out the orange Chevy Vega(?) and the Dodge Rambler(?) in front! Wow, I’m in high school again.
looks like a dodge dart 4 dr sedan, a carolina blue pinto and an orange olds cutlass to me. my eyesight is not quite as good as high school
maybe the sedan is a plymouth
Looks like a Dodge Dart or a Plymouth Valiant (essentially the same car). We had a Dart just like that.
Believe it or not I am a car buff and worked in the industry for over 20 years before changing careers.
The car in the front looks to be a ’68 Dodge Dart, the next one is a blue Ford Pinto but year would be hard to pin down other than around ’71, the orange car is a Chevrolet Vega – again year elusive but probably a ’74, and the last car looks like a ’69 Ford Mustang.
BTW Dean, Dodge did not make Rambler… it was originally made by Nash-Hudson then AMC took over in the late 50s.

Also meant to make mention about the end of the building that looks boarded up. That would have been the Goodwill when we moved to the neighborhood in 1999. Those were the days with local bakeries and the smell of it throughout the air. I miss the Wonder Bread plant off of Canal Street. Haven’t been able to get a decent loaf of regular bread since. It comes already stale when you buy it now days!
I remember Sailor Bob tossing out mini loaves of Nolde bread during different parades in Crewe and Farmville, VA.
That was some good bread!!!
