CHA meeting moved to St.John’s Church

The February 17th Church Hill Association meeting, normally held at the St. John’s Parish Hall, is moved to St. John’s Church to accomodate the expected larger-than-normal attendance given the scheduled discussion of the proposed Shockoe Center development. Also, Betty Squire, the newly appointed City Council 7th District Representative, is expected to be at the meeting.

Shooter gets 9 years

Amid “conflicting accounts about who had fired first and who was shooting in self defense”, Jesse Andrew Young pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 9 years in jail for being one of the shooters in the June 11 killing of 14-year-old Deshun Taylor.

City Council votes 7-2 to consider amending the Downtown Master Plan

The RTD is reporting that City Council voted 7-2 to keep alive a series of controversial amendments, a possible boon for the proposed Echo Harbor development. The amendments will now be forwarded to the Planning Commission for consideration and then sent back to the council for a final vote.
