Stevenson gets 15 years in killing of 1-year-old
Garnell Stevenson was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 15 suspended for the killing of 1-year-old Javon Deleo last summer in Creighton.
According to the RTD, the crime was reported by Javon’s 3-year-old sister:
The case turned on a statement made by Javon’s sister, who was found by a neighbor cowering in a bathtub. After the neighbor arrived to help the dying boy, the girl explained what happened: Javon “pooped on the stairs and ‘Nut’ beat him.” Nut is short for Peanut — Stevenson’s nickname.
I cried for that baby girl when I read that precise paragraph in the paper this morning.
He deserves 150 years.
I’m just wondering now that its over where are all those people who were defending him at now

To the person that was wondering where all the people who were defending him are; here is one. Both families are probably glad its all over and done with now. Nobody really know what happened because the 3 year old gave 2 different statements. Of course the newspaper isn’t going to tell that though right. Yes he probably deserve to get some time for leaving the scene and not watching the kids. It was an accident. If the mother thought he did this to her child then she wouldn’t still deal with him or talk to him.
To just wondering: Here is another supporter of Garnell yes I still support him and I don’t agree with his plea or his sentence but it don’t matter cuz he will be home in due time and I got his back the whole 15 years if he has to pull them all!!!
To Garnell’s supporters, you know I’m happy he has people to support him because although what he did was dead wrong he is human not much of one but still human.. but let’s get some facts straight.. this was no accident. here are facts…Javon had numerous underlying bruises dated just weeks before his death..he also had broken and fractured bones dated weeks and days before his death ..and his cause of death was blunt force trauma..meaning he was hit with enough force to burst his main artery and cause him to bleed to death internally… an accident is a scraped knee or he falls and cuts his hand.. this was no accident. now as for Javons mother still dealing with him all I have to say is this…Garnell is stupid because I say this now and I would say it to her.. she had something to do with it and she staying by his side so that he doesn’t implicate her.. but he should have told on her..but even though she’s not locked up God has a way of handling things in his own way. She’s in her own prison and I hope it eats away at her forever and I’m glad for every day that she doesnt have Jaja because that’s one more day I know that she’s safe. oh ny the way for those who are questioning the previous facts those are based on the autopsy report not made up. and I can support my family and friends in a lot of things whether right or wrong. But the MURDER(lets call it what it is) of an innocent child how can support him in that.
Javon is resting in peace now !He would have been 2 years old Feb.8,2009 leave a quote to him saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I am please to say Grandma Toto VISIT him every couple of weeks just stop by and leave a CAR, CARD,TEDDY BEAR and just the other day left him Valentines’s Candy a card and a cross .
The best thing anyone could do today is learn from this and let GOD deal with the rest ..My Grandson is safe and out of harm’s way and me and my family send our love and Thanks to all.

Ok…im javon’s older cousin and I can’t believe some of the things you people on this blog are saying…everybody needs to let him rest in piece because his life on earth was hell thanks to people who didn’t take proper care of him, and all you garnell supporters yall need to get over the fact that he is yall family or yall friend because he did a unforgivable thing, Javon was only one years old he didn’t deserve to get abused like that and he didn’t deserve to die. Garnell got what he deserved and in my opinion he deserved a life sentence, but since i am a christian, God will deal with Garnell the way he see’s fit, and I have no doubt about that. So what everyone on this blog needs to do because Im sick of all yall stupid comments, needs to pray for this child who is now in heaven and let him know that yall care about what happened to him, and that he will never be forgotten and that he didn’t die in vein because the person who has did him wrong is now either suffering in jail, or suffering with guilt either way God has a plan for those people, and they will be dealt with in due time.

Javon will rest in peace!!!!!!!! Everybody has their own opinion and is entitled to it. Mine is that it is ok to forgive as long as you don’t forget. I will never forget about the person, father, son, cousin or friend Garnell is. I will also never forget what happend to baby Javon and I feel really sorry for his family’s loss. I couldn’t imagine what it feels like to lose a child. Yes Garnll deserve to recieve some type of punishment for what happened to Javon. I do think it was an ACCIDENT and he didnt try to beat him to death. And to QUANA you must not be so close to your cousin or this case because the autopsy revealed that the bruses had been there for months. Before he even started dating Myasa so how do you explain that?? And were you at the arraignent?? Cause if you were (as i was) than why you didn’t look so sad and upset. The grandmother appeared to be faking for the cameras when we left the building, but thats another issue. Im not going go into a long rant about whats true and false. What i will say is yes Garnell has to live with what happened for the rest of his life. But what type of family will disown their own blood after they’ve lost a child? I feel for Myasa in the worst way. I couldn’t imagine having a family like hers. I hope one day they will forgive her because people make mistakes. Wow! You have a lot of nerve..Unlike you I don’t believe this was an ACCIDENT. He MURDERED Javon and honestly Myasia did too. Let me correct you. Those bruises were not there months before her and Garnell got together but months before he died. As for Quana forgive her for not being at the arraignment she does go to school out of state. But as for the grandmother faking for the cameras you have a lot of nerve. You will never know the pain that lady went through with this whole situation because not even 24hrs before he died Javon was at her house safe and she asked Myasia to leave him there but she chose to take him back home at 5am just so he can be beat to death. As for poor Myasia..ha that’s a joke..Whenever her “mother” reached out to help her she was told to mind her business, ” I’m grown”"dont worry about my boyfriend” if she was being victimized in any way all she had to do was say something and her family would have come running. But no as she used to put it and I quote I want my chance to be teenager I want to have fun. and this is what she considered fun.. Getting high letting somebody beat your child. Come on now..You feel sorry for Myasia because of course she done gave you some sad sob story about oh I lost my baby and they mad at me.. But her family knows the real story… she didn’t want Javon that’s the truth not speculation.. I could go into detail about things she tried to do even before he was born but it aint neccessary she knows the truth.. Do you know how two days after he died she was at a friends house talkin about she need her a bad boy a real thug that’s a direct quote.Or how the night that he died her family was on there way to see her in protective custody and she had left to go be with an ex boyfriend and couldn’t find her for two days after that. Oh yeah the acts of a grieving mother. and that same family who was reaching out to her she told to kiss her behind on several occasions. Now she wants them to feel sorry for her NO I feel sorry for Javon.

Well if you didn’t know, I don’t know Myaisa at all. Actrually I know Garnell and I know that he would never try to kill a innocent child. Accident is what I said because I think he did hit him and didn’t realize he hit him that hard. Yes what he did was wrong but as for what Myaisa did and her not wanting her baby; I don’t have anything to with that. Cause if it was my family we would have took the child in and all that wouldn’t have happened. If you know so much and are so concerned why didn’t you adopt him and why was her daughter back with her. What’s sad is that you already knew she was a unfit mother and obviously the family didn’t do enough to help her or even just take the kids away. Like I said and I will say it again I KNOW GARNELL and don’t really care what you or anybody else thinks because in my oppinion it was an accident that could have been prevented. You probably beat your kids and never think that hitting them will kill them, but it can. So like I said before I hope EVERYONE learned from this. Just thinkin after all has been said and done (the sentence already recieveday) what happened to Javon was a tragedy and my heart goes out to thr whole family on both sides. And yes the autopsy did confirm that the child was struck in the chest one time. That’s why I say it could have been an accident. How many of you beat you kids and hit or “strike” them one or more times?? Let this be a lesson to you all. I know Garnell is sorry for what happened and wish he could take it back but he can’t. So the next step if for everyone to move on and forgive but never forget what happened to baby Javon. And as for Myasia….if you don’t want your kids there’s plenty of people that want kids and would love to take care of yor daughter. I hope she is safe and if you are an irresponsible mother you’ve learned your lesson.

Whereas I might whack my own son on occasion to get his attention, (he is now about 5 inches taller than I am and weighs a good 50 pounds more – at the age of 14), I would never want someone else to whack him. Nor would I ever consider popping a child that was not my own for any reason whatsoever. To me that’s just inappropriate.
As I try to relate to anyone who has had such a terrible circumstance occur in her life, and detach from judgement, seems like there might be trouble whenever a parent gives the stamp of approval for another adult to administer corporal punishment techniques to her kids.
I cannot imagine ever hitting a 1-year old child! To smack a baby is abuse, not an accident.

To ALL INCLUDING QUANA AND WHOEVER ELSE….I was thinking about Javon when I was watching to news today. A man is acused of killing his step-son and putting him in a landfill, another accused and convicted of scolding his 2 year old daughter. I don’t hear anyone talking about these things. Instead of making one situation into the biggest news for richmond we should try to prevent all this abuse. It’s a fact that Garnell was seeing Myasa for about 2-3 months before all this happened. And the bruises were older than that. I have not yet met one person who believes he abused this child or murdered him purposely. I’ve talked to people who don’t know Garnell or Myasa and everyone seems to think the mother was abusing the child. I’m not gonna keep stating my opinion as its already known. I just hope and pray that the mothers are more aware of people disciplining their kids. Or just moving men into their homes for their own selfish needs. It hurts me to my heart that this happened and no matter what any of you feel or think the issue at hand is that young mothers need to step up and put their kids first. I could go on and on about how much this issue affected me as a person, mother and human being but that’s not important. What’s important is that we take control and put our children first…..and if anyone is wondering Garnell is doing fine.He regrets everything that happened and wishes he could take it back.We know he can’t but he is the one that’s living with this everyday………..

We all know the truth and we know the truth is Garnell wasnt the abuser. yes if he was struck in the chest it wasnt meant to kill Javon thats why there are such things as accident but to abuse your own child (Mysaia) and anyone else is no accident. There are other ways to punish children but to every person on this page who has said they have never hitten their child. Take a lie detector Test and see how many of you pass it. I for one dont believe that the mother is innocent, nor do I believe the Grand mother gave a damn about the type of punishments that little boy received until he was gone and it was too late to get him back now all you can do is point fingers.
