are this many robberies in a ten day period normal for CH?

  2. posted by john_m at December 31, 2008 3:22 pm [#]:

    The short answer is “no”.

Note that this list encompasses the entire 1st Precinct, and includes part of southside and Fulton. Still, though, this seems like an incredible number of robberies for a 10-day span for the area. Usually there might be 1?

I think there is still something screwy with the way the police are reporting incidents. I am getting daily emails of noteworthy incidents, but still see new things on crime blotters that I swear were not there before.

Scott, an incident may be reported to the police and be tracked in the system but it may not make the noteworthy sheet. Don’t panic. They are not trying to hide anything. And robberies may climb during the holiday season so this is not unusual.

Yesterday at 5:00 in the evening. . . that’s so scary. My son often walks from the library at that time of the evening. Isn’t that right by the library. . . right near the police station?

there seemed to be some craziness the other night at the 25th street masonic lodge. nothing out of the ordinary, i guess. just more police than normal. there’s usually one fight per week at the parties. not the actual masons, who are quite nice and gentlemanly, just the jerks who end up renting out the building. it’s cheap to rent, by the way. and huge!

Yep, that’s the block between the police station and the triangle restaurant.
