mark your calendar: Italian Festival set for Oct.4&5

The 2008 Italian Street Festival is scheduled for Saturday & Sunday October 4&5th, 2008, and “will once again be located in Historic Church Hill with similar times as the 2007 event”.

The mission of the Richmond Italian Street Festival is to promote the Italian culture to Central Virginia; to unify the Italian Community and provide an entertainment/cultural venue that is beneficial to all involved.

Cultural displays will be provided by local Italian organizations, live demonstrations, wine tasting and live music are among the many events planned for our two day Festival.

Authentic Italian cuisine will be provided by local Italian restaurants; Calzones, pasta, pizza, and gelato are only a few of the delicacies that will be available during this two day festival.

This is Richmond’s largest Original Street Festival located at Broad and 25th Streets with several connecting streets closed to traffic. Promoters plan attendance upwards of 10,000 this weekend, rain or shine. Hours are Saturday, October 4th: from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, October 5th: from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Entrances will be located at: 23rd& Broad, 24th & Broad, 26th & Broad

There will be a family section with children’s activities located in the park. No alcohol will be permitted in this area.

Organizers of this event are the three Italian-American organizations in Richmond: Italian-American Business & Professional Societa, Italian-American Cultural Association and the Giuseppe Verdi Lodge #315 – Sons of Italy. Marketing sponsorships and vendor space is available yet will be limited to preserve optimal return on your investment.
