cat questions

LOST A CAT? - From a reader: “A friendly pregnant silver/gray tabby was found near 23rd and T streets on Friday. Call 937-9375 if she is yours.” // CAT RESCUE? - From a reader: “Does anyone do cat rescue? There are homeless kittens in the yard of the vacant house at 425 North 31st.” // FOUND A CAT? - From craig’s list: “Last seen Tuesday evening, September 2 in the Pohlig Box Factory parking lot.”

“Her name is CLOVER and she’s a very friendly indoor cat. She has her shots and has been spayed, but she’s never been outside and I am very distraught and worried about her. She has green eyes, a black shiny coat, and a few white hairs on her chest. She was not wearing a collar. If you see her or have her, please call Holly at 804-928-7807.”

I’m pretty sure the Richmond Animal Control will take them in for a few days if you can catch them.

Don’t take kittens to RACC! Kittens, puppies and senior cats/dogs are the first to be put to sleep. I highly recommend calling some of the many cat rescues around here first.

The black cat in the picture looks just like one that showed up around Jesamine and 23rd / M about two months ago.

The friendly pregnant female silver tabby was neutered today and voila, thanks to the kind staff and Church Hill Animal Hospital, the unborn kittens are now in kitten heaven.

If this your cat, or was a cat some folks in your neighborhood “cared for”, we’ll happily return her should someone claim her. Now she has all her shots and will no longer contribute to the population explosion of cats in the East End.

BTW, the cat was found at 22nd and T, in Fairmount.

Yeah, I was looking out my front window yesterday evening and saw a black cat walking down 23rd around M and Jesamine. If I see it this evening I will see if I can check it out. I saw it also Sundat evening and thought it lived across the street in those row houses…
Holly, I’ll take your number down and call thsi evening if I see the cat again…

In response to the cat rescue question: I *think* the SPCA has a network of volunteers who foster kittens — might be worth calling to check! Or perhaps Cat’s Cradle — you can leave a message and they’ll return the call: 282.3833, website is http://www.catscradle-richmond.org/Default.aspx

The kittens aren’t “homeless,” they’re “strays.” They don’t need to be “rescued,” they need to be “removed”. Lowes sells traps pretty cheap. RAC will do the rest.
