I did see, from a distance, a black dog in the Chimbo Park/E Broad Street area at approximately 8 p.m. last night. I am not sure if the dog had any white on it, as I saw it from the rear. I would usually try to catch a loose dog to check for tags but, at the time I was fending off another loose dog that was trying to pick a fight with one of my dogs. Last I saw, this dog was on the sidewalk and heading west on E Broad.
I hope you find her. Check with Richmond AC&C later today - #646.5573.

Pella has made it safely home.

Yea!!!!! Glad to know at least one animal is home again!

I’m so glad. I would absolutely drive myself nuts if any of my dogs were missing!

I am glad the doggie was found. I dont know the circumstances- but an UNSPAYED
female dog cruising the hood!?! That is like yellow cake uranium to terrorists!
There is a roaming dog problem in Church Hill and a dog in heat would send the roaming pooches over the top! If you choose not to have your dog spayed or neutered-you have gotta be more responsible about you dog. Sounds cold-but true, My two cents.

On this subject - we found a male dog that resembles a
Pomeranian this evening (7/16) around 9 p.m. on 26th between Grace and Broad. Collar no tags, have pictures - call Heather at 938-1121.

Jordan the dog from the above post was given to Dr. Jack this morning. The owner contacted Dr. Jack office last night and has been notified this morning that Jordan is there. Thanks for posting this even though the case has been solved!

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO PUT TAGS ON YOUR DOGS????

  10. posted by Whodat! at July 17, 2008 10:04 am :

Can we feed the pomeranian to the other dog?

  11. posted by Crystal at July 17, 2008 2:22 pm :

Jason, I would LOVE to know the answer to that question. Or microchip at the very least.

  12. posted by Andrew S. at July 17, 2008 4:09 pm :

As someone who has lost a dog (albeit for just a few hours) WITH tags, I can tell you that the last thing anybody wants to hear are jokes like the ones by whoadat! The remarks are insensitive and in no way funny. ANYONE, regardless of how careful they are, can lose their pets through NO FAULT of their own.

I know the dog’s owner and he cares deeply for his pets. I don’t know the circumstances behind the tags (or lack thereof) but I am sure he will do everything he can to avoid a repeat of something like this in the future.

Meanwhile, the two large dogs (they appear to be older Shepherd/Lab mixes???) that live across the street from me that nearly killed my neighbors cat a few weeks ago (I had to rush it to Dr. Jack’s office) regularly roam the area around 27th and Leigh. Does anyone know anything about them?

  13. posted by Shannon at July 17, 2008 5:49 pm :

If you microchip, remember to be registered at the site. Doesn’t help if they scan him and there is no record.

I’m pretty sure that Dr. Jack can track them locally if she was the one that installed the chip, but if they roam far, whoever finds him has to have the info to cross-ref.

The chip Dr. Jack put in my sometimes free-wheeling dog works with this site: http://www.homeagain.com/1_0.html

  14. posted by Crystal at July 17, 2008 11:09 pm :

The shelters in the area all use Home Again. I know a few rescues that use a different type of chip because it can be read by any reader anywhere (huskies roam far fast) which is ideal but not available at present.

As for those roaming dogs, call AC every single time you see them with a detailed location of their there whereabouts. Eventually they’ll be caught and impounded but with no tags, no one can be held responsible. Just because you know who the owner is doesn’t mean they’ll own up to letting their dogs roam either.

Or just call AC and tell them you know where the dogs live and they’ll bother the heck out of the owners.
