If you like good Southern food, Sugar and Spice (formerly on Main Street, now on Mechanicsville Turnpike), is a great place also. The yams are to die for!
Are you talking about the old Sugar and Spice that two sisters operated on Main street in the early 1990’s before the front was opened up? My mom joked that they put valium in the mashed potatoes…the greens were velvety with a glistening sheen, the cornbread big fluffy and moist, and the liver tender and smothered in onions and gravy…I miss meals like that. I was addicted to those greens.
It’s the Sugar and Spice that was where Honey Whyte’s now is.
Woolfolk & Sons Seafood Restaurant is not affiliated with Sugar and Spice Restaurant. Woolfolk & Sons Seafood is a 25+ year old institution located at 1627 Mechanicsville Turnpike. Mr. & Mrs. Woolfolk are the owners. They are still living. Mrs. Woolfolk is the primary chef for cooking every delicious meal that is served in their 4-star restaurant. Mr. Woolfolk is a gem. Don’t go there on Sundays after church…you may wait for a long time because of the delicious home cooked meals that people flocked to after a long and intense worship service.
What are the lunch and dinner hours at Woolfolk $ Son’s? And the price range? I would like to bring my family.
Lucilles’ @ Laburnum Ave & Creighton Rd also has delicious collard greens, yams and a good crabcake too. (Yeah, I know it is in eastern Henrico Co.
I’ve been craving a good crabcake all summer, we’ll check’em out :)
