have you lost a male beagle mix?

I found a Beagle mix male dog at the bottom of Chimbo Hill, and my friends said they had seen the dog 2 weeks prior running as fast as possible down 26th st. out of the hill towards broad with a leash on. He had no tags. I would just like to find the owner of the dog. Anything you could do would be great.

Contact Justin at justinryanvaughan@gmail.com or (804)512-3651 for more info.

I don’t know how much this helps but about 2-3 weeks ago, a couple drove slowly by my house, and paused to ask me if I had seen their LOST BEAGLE MIX. They lived on Jessemine St - 800 block - I just don’t remember the exact house #. Jessamine is a very short block (kind of squeezed in between 22nd and 23rd Sts)… I’ll see if I can find additional details so that maybe we can match snoopy back up with his worried owners!

there is a major problem with some owners not putting tags on dogs. I see this all the time and it is sad and cruel to the dogs. they cant call home on a doggie cell phone.

Jason: Some dogs lose their tags very easily. One of my dogs has lost her’s several times and we practically have them bolted to her collar, while my other 2 dogs have never lost their tags. You could ask animal control (#646.5573)to come by and scan him for a microchip. Or you can take the dog to the animal control office on Chamberlayne and ask them to scan for you. Most vet’s offices have microchip scanners, too. Good luck to the boy. I hope you find his owners.

True, Kathleen. I have a cat, but a similar problem. This cat hates collars and we have gone through 6 so far in two years. Now I just keep the proof of his vaccinations on file because I know he will get out of his collar within a couple of weeks.

When in doubt, microchip! This way the dog can almost always be reunited with his/her owner at some point. Without a collar or microchip, there’s a slim chance of being together again. It costs $35 to get the implantation and $18 a year to keep it activated and it’s worth every penny.

  6. posted by Kathleen at June 18, 2008 9:58 am :

Since we are talking about microchips, I’ll mention that there may be a a free microchip clinic provided by a local rescue coming to Church Hill in the near future, so keep your eyes out for it. I’ll send the info to CHPN to post, if it does work out.

I printed off this information and distributed a few copies on Jessamine St. in hopes that it will reach the right person…. Hope it works out!
