open house Sunday @ 1213 North 23rd Street

1213 North 23rd Street

This solidly restored house is for sale for $193,000; get more details from the realtor’s site. There will be an open house this Sunday from 2-5PM.

This former boarding house, in its previous incarnation, had been a bad neighbor. It was one of those houses where people would go to visit in the middle of the night and yell from the street for the person whom they were seeking. Neighbors were especially glad when “WILLIE!!!!!!!” moved away.

There was also some kind of day care in the house for a while. Folks would drop off their wee children on the way to work starting at 5AM or so. They would signal to the person inside that they had arrived by honking their horns — *starting at 5AM or so*. The cars were bad, the guy driving the semi was too effing much.

Towards the end, the only apparent resident was the neighborhood’s shortest prostitute. Convenience to the Fairmount stroll seemed to outweigh the apparent lack of electricity in the house.

gee, seems the neighborhood’ll be losing a lot just to gain a nice renovation.

I’ve seen the renovation work on this one and it’s worth looking at. It has a good blend of original detail and modern amenities, nice work throughout. The house also has a bawdy history behind it, too, which is always fun to hear.

A great property, ready to live in, for a great price. Our family enjoyed meeting the friendly neighbors at the open house today.

and, for the record, I have seen shorter prostitutes
