City pools open today

Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will open its eight outdoor public swimming pools for the summer at 1PM today. The pools are free for the public to use and open Mondays through Fridays from 1PM to 8PM, Saturdays from noon to 5PM, and Sundays from 1PM to 5PM In addition, each pool offers family or adult only swim times. Please call the individual pools for these schedules.

New this year are Water Smarts classes at the department’s Hotchkiss pool, provided in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Richmond. These classes are just $10 and are for teens 13 and older and adults, parents and their children, and children ages 6 through 12. For more information or to register for a class, call 646-1441.
