EDI open as cooling center
Due to the excessive heat, the city has opened the East District Center @ 701 North 25th Street as a cooling center. Bottled water will be provided, but no food will be available. Pets are not permitted, with the exception of services animals. For more information, call Richmond Social Services at 646-7046.

It kinda bugs me that the city doesn’t provide a place for people with dogs to cool down as well. I know of a few homeless that absolutely refuse to give up their dogs and I don’t blame them one bit as I’d find it hard to do so as well.
But dogs are affected by the heat as much if not more than humans because they cannot sweat and water isn’t always readily found on severely dry days. *sigh*
