Church Hill Dog Park work party

The folks working on getting the Church Hill Dog Park up&running have announced a work party for Saturday, June 7th from 9AM-1PM. Sign up via email to vanessa.diamond@gmail.com.

We will be attaching wire mesh to the wooden fencing. The park should be up and running in a month or so… Beverages and snacks will be provided. While we you know we love the doggies, please leave the four-legged friends at home.

You might want to wear gloves and hammers will definitely be needed. We’re going to use heavy duty staples that will require nailing instead of a staple gun to ensure we do this right the first time.

Also, we’re going to be hammering in stakes at the bottom of the mesh to ensure (a little bit more anyway) that no escapees will be had, thus hammers will be needed yet again.

Weather.com is predicting a high of 100 on Saturday.

The dog park work party is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., so the temp will NOT reach 100 while we are out there working. And, while I believe we have more than 1 volunteer signed up, we certainly use anyone who can come out to help, even if you can’t stay for the entire 4 hours.

We’re hoping to get the fence done fast because of the impending high of the day. There will be plenty of drinks and snacks to keep us hydrated/fed while out there, too.

And it’s either do it now or wait until September when the temps go back down. I for one would prefer to get it done sooner rather than later because that means we’ll be able to use the dog park before September.

Whoops…. I didn’t meant to say there was only one volunteer signed up. I meant to communicate that I was signed up and going to be there in sort of a roll-call fashion. I was thinking others would chime in and we’d get a count (and know who of our favorite CHPN posters we’ll be working with :-).
