What does the term “Contributing” denote for individual units?

  2. posted by UnionHill RVA at May 5, 2008 2:42 pm [#]:

“Contributing” means that the individual structure contributes to the character of the District, and is eligible for State and Federal Tax Credits if restored following the guidelines of the Secretary of the Interior (as administerd by the VA Dept. of Historic Resources.)

From the actual PDF cited above: “The contributing status of the following resources [i.e. homes, churches, schools, commercial bldgs, etc.] was determined by the integrity of each resource within the period of significance [1890-1925 extended to 1950 for purposes of the NPS.)

Go to Page 5 of the PDF (application for the district) and read the Narrative Description for Fairmount.

To all you other Nat-Fed wonks, please building upon my definition of “contributing” if you feel I left
    something unclear.

WOOOOO HOOOO, Fairmount! Welcome to the Nat. Register!
