heat = crime?

The crime map shows a spate of what look like daytime B&Es in the area south of Broad and along Marshall. I’ve also gotten reports of more recent incidents further north. Anybody know anything?

    Heard from a friend that there was a rape near 24th and Broad a couple of weeks ago…haven’t read anything about this..can anyone confirm?

    I just learned that there was a break in on the 800 block of N 26th St. The back door was kicked in and an iPod, lap top, and digital camera were stolen. A juvenile was seen leaving the house.

    There have been seven burglaries/thefts from buildings near Broad Street over the past three weeks. Four of these were in one day on April 16.

    Anyone kwow if thefts from buildings are not burglaries because things are stolen from porches, sheds or outside the house?

    One good news point in this break-in list. The police caught the perp inside 2200 E. Marshall St. He was a regular in the neighborhood, riding his bike through the alleys looking for opportunities. This occured during the day, around 1:00. One of the other break-ins happened around the same time, by a child crawling through a dog door and letting the adult inside. It was probably the same person in the 2200 E. Marshall break-in.

    Is this the same guy that rides around on a bike, african american middle aged man, that wore a ski hat until recently…he is a pretty creepy guy likes to follow people and watch which house they walk in and out of..and doesn’t try and do it discretely…he waits on the street and watches your every move…

    if thefts from buildings are not burglaries

    When we had our ladder stolen and when they stole the wheel off of my truck it showed up as something like “other larceny”.

    Bill, are you serious!!? A child crawling through a doggy door and letting the adult in the house? That just blows my mind. I guess you have to start them out early nowadays.

    Where was the dog?

    Jewel: Yes, that is the same guy. I’ve seen him in my alley several times. When the police pulled him out of the house they knew him by name, so he’s not a new face to them, either. When he broke into the house he stashed his bike behind mine, next door. When I got home and saw it I knew exactly what was going on and called the police. They were here in two minutes. A great job on their part.

    At last night’s CHA meeting, Lieutenant Laino said that a woman living in the Shockoe area had been arrested for these daytime B&Es.
