Church Hill Walking Tour

Explore the neighborhood described as “the best example of 19th century cityscape still standing in the U.S.” Join your guide for a walk through this historic district and examine the architectural treasures that are such an important part of Church Hill. This area, while rich in history, is also a neighborhood “in progress.” As you tour the area, you will see the work that is underway to revitalize this historic district.

The next meeting with the VCU Urban Studies Class is Thursday, April 24 at 7:30pm.

Kim Chen and her VCU students will present their revised outline/power point presentation of their work to date on Union Hill and the impact of City Old & Historic District status. We heard/saw their first draft last month; they’ve been working on the presentation since then, addressing requests from the last meeting.

Heating and Cooling Your Old House

A.C.O.R.N is pleased to offer a new “Fix-It-Up” workshop: “Heating and Cooling Your Old House”. There are many different ways to heat and cool historic homes but what is the best way to keep the integrity of your home and still accomplish this goal? Justin Nelson, with Dominion Heating & Air Conditioning will provide some direction for homeowners on how to improve upon an existing system or how to successfully install a new, energy efficient system for your house while maintaining the historic integrity of your home.
