UHCA/Union Hill Old and Historic District Study Group meeting & Friends of Jefferson Park

Thu Mar 20 6:30 pm
Joint meeting. We have tentatively reserved space at the Central Montessori School, 323 N. 20th Street, at 6:30 PM that night for the UHCA meeting. The study group will meet at 7:45. We are doing this to avoid “meeting fatigue;” because many members of UHCA are also involved in the study group, and because Kim Chen’s class will be making a presentation of preliminary research to the study group on Thursday, we felt it might be more convenient for people to have both meetings on the same night.

The UHCA agenda will be fairly short. We will be discussing the nomination of candidates for vice president and secretary for the 2008-2009 term (don’t forget: elections are in May!), and we will also be hearing from a student in the VCU master of urban and regional planning program who’s working on a plan for the 25th Street/Nine Mile Road Revitalization Area. If you have anything you’d like to add to the announcements or new business agenda, please send them to me as soon as possible.

Union Hill clean-up

Sat Mar 22 9:00 am
On behalf of the Union Hill Civic Association, the Friends of Jefferson Park, and the Masonic Temple we invite you to participate in a Union Hill Neighborhood Cleanup. Please meet at the corner of 22nd and Clay Streets between 8am and 845am for COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE served by Tracey & Jen in
the parking lot of the Spanish styled building.

There are actually FOUR clean-up/beautification projects going on that morning,
all volunteer-driven.

1. The Montessori School kids and parents will be mulchi ng the new trees in Jefferson Park beginning at 9:00am at the park.

2. 5-10 volunteers are still needed to follow a city trash truck to help clean-up items in the neighborhood alleys beginning at 8:45am.

3. An additional group will meet at 9:00am on the corner of Venable & Mosby Streets to do a focused clean-up along Venable Street.

4. And a group will leave at 9:00am from the corner of 22nd and Clay to do a walk around trash and litter clean-up of the neighborhood.
