I hope that the South American portion of the menu will feature some Peruvian foods, particularly Lomo Saltado (“a traditional peruvian dish of top sirloin slices sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and fries, served with a side of rice” — delicious).
The best Lomo Saltado that I’ve had so far in the US is at Limón in S.F. I have yet to find a Peruvian restaurant in the Richmond area. Spotted Binigi’s Cafe on the interweb, but apparently it has closed or relocated.
Andrades at 7 Bollingbrook St, Petersburg has some Peruvian dishes on the menu. I had a good meal there. I can’t wait to try out Que Pasa’s Menu.
What are the hours going to be?
I visited Que Pasa on a Friday night. Overall I had a very good experience. Things that were great were–The atmosphere, Decor, the smiles of the staff, the attentiveness of the staff once we were seated. Things that could improve are the portions, prices and the attentiveness of the staff before you are seated. When we walked in we waited for about 5 minutes until I finally walked up to someone and asked if we seat ourselves or do we wait. There was only one other couple in the rest. so I dont know why it took so long for someone to help us. A sign would be VERY helpful. The prices are expensive but worth it IF the portions were larger. For $12 to $14 a plate I expect a little more food. The rice was warm not hot but VERY tasty. The staff was excellent and very friendly once we were seated. As a Puerto Rican I would like to see this limited menu expand. I grew up eating Latin food and there were many things that I hoped to see on the menu that were not there. Also when I asked if they had white rice, I was told they did not. This is not an unusal reqquest and even though it was not on the menu I would have thought they would’ve made an acception..but they didnt. Overall I will definately go back and try other things on the menu.

We have been to Que Pasa 3 times since it opened January 21st. The staff have been attentive and pleasant each time. The food has been consistently good, really good in fact. The salads have been crisp and fresh, the meat flavorful, and that Que Pasa dessert is unique and a must have.
The only disappointment we have is that they don’t appear to be busier. Do you suppose people are waiting for the abc license? The waiter told us tonight that they expect a ruling on it this week and then it will take 30 days to actually obtain the license.
After the recent restaurant closings in our neighborhood, we have made a commitment to do our part in helping small business to succeed here. We only have so much money budgeted per month for eating out at restaurants, so we are trying to choose wisely not merely to satisfy our food cravings, but to help our community as well. If a restaurant like Que Pasa is to survive in a challenging market like our neighborhood, it is going to require support from those of us who live here. We all have a vested interest in this place and I hope more and more quality businesses arrive here, But it is unlikely that they will if we do not collectively support them with all of our might. As small business owners ourselves who do alot of work in our neighborhood, we understand the power of word of mouth. We hope you will give Que Pasa a try, then pass it on.

My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night a few weeks ago and loved it!
We went for brunch this Sunday (3-9-08) to celebrate her birthday and brought my mother, sister and niece along. Everyone loved it.
We intend to return often, but we were a bit concerned during both our visits at how slow business seemed. On the Saturday night we were there (from about 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.) only 3 or four other tables were occupied.
When we went for brunch we arrived at 10:00 and left about 11:45. During that time only 2 or 3 other parties arrived.
I’ve been planning to meet some friends for lunch sometime soon and my mother is the leader of a local “Red Hat Ladies” chapter. We asked to look at a copy of the lunch menu and were told that they had discontinued lunch service.
I urge anyone who reads this to give Que Pasa a try – whether you live in Church Hill or not. You won’t regret it.
Any word as to when Que Pasa gets their ABC license?
What is the telephone number to make reservations? Is there a website?
