Two men were shot at THAT ORANGE HOUSE on the 1100 block of 24th Street. Initial reports are that one of the victims was shot in the back of the head and “does not look good”. I understand that both young men have died. My sincerest sympathy to the family and friends of these young men. I am at a loss for words.
While these deaths are indeed a sad day for their families, if someone lives a certain lifestyle it will catch up with you. I don’t think the death is as sad as 2 lives that never had a chance because of factors out of their control. You say poor family, I say poor society for letting them down.

I dunno about you guys, but I find the posts from the “other side of life” e.g. 31. and 32. to be vivid reminders of the fragile world we live in up on the Hill.
Yes, those posts are shocking. But they keep me aware of why we’re working so hard to make “greater Church Hill” a safer community for everyone.
Sometimes, when my block is quiet, the hookers & bums stoop yelling and the weeds/trash are under control, I relax and think “oh, what a peaceful, beautiful neighborhood”.
About then a couple violent news stories and a few vulgar postings shock me back into reality and put me back “on guard”. Which is probably a good thing, at least for now.

Acutally, I am quite offended when someone only gets 10 or 15 years for killing another human being, which is a common sentence for many drug-related shootings. All victims matter, and handing a small sentence because the victim was a dealer is like saying that the victim matters less.
