Motley’s will be auctioning for the city a group of 12 different properties (PDF), including undeveloped lots in Union Hill, Woodville, and Oakwood, on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00PM.

A Judicial Sale is a sale of tax delinquent real estate initiated by a locality pursuant to Section 58.1-3965 of the Code of Virginia. Generally, properties are eligible for sale on December 31 following the second anniversary of the due date of delinquent taxes. The statute also imposes very specific notice and procedural requirements. All sales involve legal proceedings filed with the circuit court and all sales are subject to court approval.     Buyer Beware! on 606 n 24th. see “bidder info” tube on lot. the properties surrounding it has been surveyed, and the city description is WRONG!!! tiny dimensions, and NOT AT ALL as described by Motleys. Two recent surveys of surrounding properties (purchased within last 4 years) show boundaries of 606 to be substantially smaller in square footage…this is an irregularly “L” shaped lot with no alley access. City attorney is aware of the discrepency but leaving it up to bidders to do due diligence. CAVEAT EMPTOR on all properties at city auctions.
