I’m going to get soooooo fat.

Style Weekly finds out more about Must Be Heaven, the new “old-fashioned ice cream parlor” rumored to be coming to Broad Street. On the menu will be “old-style Southern delicacies like rice pudding and corn pudding, as well as Chicago hot dogs, soups and other desserts” and Gelati Celesti.

Hot diggity-damn. I wonder if their rice pudding will be any good; I’m pretty picky about my puddings. It’ll be nice to be able to grab a hot dog nearby as well!

What’s going on with the plans for the restaurant on 25th near the Post Office?

Well, the sign said they would open by Thanksgiving. Maybe by Christmas? I haven’t noticed anything going on there since the sign went up. I hope this isn’t a Church Hill Market or Que Pasa all over again.

    Que Pasa is hiring.

Does any one know what is going on with this place? I was really wanting to walk to get ice cream this summer.

I had heard through the rumor mill, that a 100 foot tall Jesus holding an ice cream scoop had appeared to the owner in a vision and that he took this as a sign to open an ice cream parlor. And who can argue with a 100 foot tall Jesue bearing an ice cream scoop?

Now, it is possible that by the time the rumor reached me, it had been slightly distorted. However, I do suspect the part of them running out of funds and the loan marketplace changing might have something to do with the lack of ice cream.

It is a shame. Now there are signs in the window saying “construction delays”. They have been working on this building for what seems like years and the last work done was plumbing which should have been the first if opening up a restaurant!

Ice Cream would be nice but if you can offer an old fashioned “soda jerk” type place that offers what is listed in the banner above, that would be great!

But… we will see (or not)????

I have a feeling this was just an investment for someone and they have no real intention of opening it up. Does anyone have an inside to the owner(s)?

How can a business be an investment if you never open it? Unless you are a money launderer that is…

I was walking to the post office last night and this looked like it would be open any day now. The banners are down and you can see the ice cream counter and tables with stools. Does anyone know when it will be open?

Corey W says that they’ll be open on Friday:

Re: It Must Be Heaven, we stopped by on Monday and the owners treated us to some wonderful Gelati Celeste, the ice cream they’ll be serving. They’re doing a “test week” this week to test out the various pieces of equipment, and plan to open this Friday. Their hours sound very normal and accommodating to people who work during the day. They seem like great folks who really want to press value into this community.
