John, can all other real estate agents put their listings on this website?
After all of that ruckus for 816/818 North 23rd, I had to give someone else a pop :)
Plus this is really close to my house and I’d like to see something nice happen here.
But seriously, I’ve thought that it’d be cool to have a biweekly or so run down of some of the interesting properties that are for sale up here. Let me know if you’d be interested in helping me put that together.
I think it would be great if we could do a periodic Real Estate Fair where we would have a whole weekend where there would be open houses, events for people visiting the neighborhood and seminars about renovation and tax credits. All agents and the civic associations could participate an fund the advertising. ACORN could participate, like they used to. Walking tours of the neighborhood and a cookout, in the great tradition of the neighborhood, would make it a festive occasion. Twice a year, in the spring and the fall would draw continuing attention to the neighborhoods if it is scheduled on a regular basis. The Friends of Jefferson Park, Union Hill Civic Association, and the Fairmount group should get together and plan some great events for the new year. I’ll definitely help the effort!
1905 Fairmount will be up for sale the first week of December. My agent would love to participate in an event like you are suggesting. Lots of the neighbors are very interested in our construction progress and many people remember this house from the past and would like to “tour” it when finished. Good idea, Bill and John. I would be interested in helping.
What about a fair and a tour. Stephan and I would have certainly attended because of our interest in renting or buying in the area. What about a map showing available homes/properties? I also think (not that it counts because we aren’t even neighbors yet,)this area has not yet come into its own. It is the historical neighborhood of the civil war. The emancipation of the people in this area occured over several years but truly was realized in just a short few moments. This is an incredible fact and produced many stories about survival, migration, heroism, government transitions etc. It all occured in this dynamic area. Is there written information about each of the houses? Are there still people around that could give oral histories of these properties. A catalogue with this information and the tour and website listings would make it an incredible event. Let me know if I can help. Anita
I’m trying to get a message to William or Bill Hartsock regarding real estate in Virginia.
Anita,
Kim Chen did a survey of each structure in this neighborhood, so she’d be the best person to go to for what you are looking for.
Also, click on the menu bar above and read what John has listed under “General Information & History” - it is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to learn about this neighborhood’s storied past. Sadly, many of the buildings have been demolished or can be found on http://www.vacantrichmond.com
The north wing of our house built in 1812 and closed off in 1904 is currently up for sale and having Sunday open houses. It is through One South Realty.
Keep in mind it is a “wing” off our main historic structure but has 5 rooms (living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bath. Has central air / heat pump, all appliances including washer/dryer, a rear deck, small back yard, and a utility building). Was restored in 1984 and recently painted. It is basically townhouse size and asking right at under $190k which is cheap considering how much houses in Church Hill are going for right now! We have first right of refusal but not able to buy it right now and so does HRF which is part of the deed contract. It is noted in books, in the North Church Hill Historic District and part of the oldest house in Church Hill.
Eric
Eric -
Why don’t you post an address and/or an MLS number for us?
Thanks!
Sorry, thought everyone knew where I lived :-)
The wing address is 407 1/2 N 27th Street and the MLS # is 2833798.
