I agree that the exhibit is mostly blow-ups of the O&H pages on the city website, but it also features info about many of the local preservation pioneers that cared enough to preserve Richmond, and there are many of them. It’s as much an homage to the grass roots efforts as it is a celebration of the buildings and neighborhoods themselves.
The opening reception for the exhibit (public was welcome) was really great and drew quite a crowd. Most of the Commission of Architectural Review board members were there as were Rachel Flynn, Director of Community Development, board members from ACORN and Historic Richmond Foundation and many involved citizens that work hard to preserve Richmond everyday. It was a good opportunity to meet and greet the many wonderful people in our community that are committed to preserving Richmond.
I’d still recommend that people check out the exhibit. There a lot of good info there to learn about O&H’s and preservation. If you haven’t been to the VA Center for Architecture, I encourage you to go, it’s a great building!
