All neighborhoods schools accredited

The State Department of Education today released the data on the School Accreditation Status for 2007-2008. All of the neighborhood schools are designated as Fully Accredited except for Martin Luther King Middle School which is designated Accredited with Warning, with the warning coming in history (having met the benchmarks in both math and English).

A related article on nbc12 points out that “Ninety-six percent of Virginia’s elementary schools received full accreditation, 97 percent of its high schools and 69 percent of the middle schools.”

This is where I have to admit that I am history teacher MLK Middle School. Be gentle.

Looks like state-wide it’s the middle schools that are struggling. I’m glad we have people like you in there making a difference John! Keep at it and they’ll make it next time.

Look at it this way, John: MLK’s finally on the same level as Binford.

John – I can’t add much to what Daniel said –

“Looks like state-wide it’s the middle schools that are struggling. I’m glad we have people like you in there making a difference John! Keep at it and they’ll make it next time.”

Other than to say, YOU DO SO MUCH! So don’t be kicking yourself too much. Next year….

The RTD has the numbers on area middle schools. At MLK we hit a 68% pass rate history; we needed 70%. Oh so close… Only 2 of 9 city middle schools are Fully Accredited, 5 are Accredited with Warning, and 2 are whatever that 3rd status might be.

[...] the data on the School Accreditation Status for 2008-2009 later today, and in an improvement from last year, all of the neighborhood schools are expected to be designated as Fully Accredited. Congratulations [...]
