Yes, Tiny is right. It has been cancelled.

    Why?

I have already used it as an excuse to avoid a family re-union….. So now, I have to attend?

I heard that the reason is the conflict with the National Folk Festival at Brown’s Island, which is held on the same weekend as HOH.

Last year, they moved the festival back a week to accommodate the festival and it was a disaster. It rained all day and no one showed up.

However, I have heard that the National Folk Festival will be moving to September in 2009. Will they bring HOH back then?

OOPs - I meant they moved HOH back a week to accommodate the festival.

Bummer, I enjoyed working the beer truck last year. One for them, one for me, one for them, two for me, …

Thanks to all those who have made it happen on the hill in the past. We’ll miss it this year. Perhaps Rick will send you a check for all of the beer he drank on your nickle and you can start replenishing the rainy day fund.

Ahem .. I feel I must stand and defend myself. (Something I had trouble with last year after the aforementioned beer episode. LOL!) In return for being a proud server of cool libations that day, I was given several beer tickets which I used without having to stand in line in the rain. Alas, there were many that didn’t have that benefit, nor did they have a nice, dry tent to stand under. For that, my apologies.

It’s a shame they cancelled. In spite of the cold and wet, there was a decent turnout I thought. Everyone seemed to “weather” the day very well, although I suppose those folks were of the more hard-core sort.

If HOH32 transpires, I’ll be sure to volunteer again, setting up beforehand, and serving (literally) my community. I had a great time last year.

I will miss the event this year; hopefully, it will be back next year. I understand that the Italian Festival is taking place Sept 29-30 on the hill; maybe Rick can enjoy their libations this year.

  12. posted by Nacho at September 14, 2007 3:07 pm :

Sorry, Rick. It is good that you paid for those beers with your tickets. Thanks for explaining. Now, send them a check for the use of the tent!

Event Rain Insurance is inexpensive. Just a suggestion. I planned a New Year’s Event and was glad to have it because it almost got snowed out. Maybe next year…. :)

RATS! this was going to be the first year of attending HOH. I’ve just moved here and I have heard so much about it. Again, RATS! But thanks for the info by reading your messages.
