still no to SCV

The city continues to rebuff the Sons of Confederate Veterans June offer to take over maintenance, at their own expense, of Oakwood Cemetery.

I wonder why the SCV only wants to care for the Confederate section? There are other very old graves that need attention in that cemetary: http://www.nbc12.com/news/state/9416486.html

maybe the real question is to ask the city why they will not take care of a city cemetary. but if you are feed up with the bullshit from the city, dont bother and ask cause it will likely be more of the same.

Evergreen isn’t owned by the city, it’s owned by a delinquent management corporation.

“I wonder why the SCV only wants to care for the Confederate section?” Ya know, as nice as it would be to have someone step up and care for the whole thing, I think it’s great that there is at least a group that wants to pitch in and take a part of the responsibility. It’s a heck of a lot more ownership than there is now, right?

Perhaps because their ancestors are buried there?

nadine, i think archie figured it out. why would boys volunteer at the boy scouts? why would republicans volunteer at the republican party? why would a boat owner volunteer at the boat club? why would a bridge player go to a bridge club?

It’s called an opportunistic power-grab along the strategic lines of “low hanging fruit.” When responsibility is not in place, even a landscaping crew can claim authority and one day “rise again.” Nip it in the bud, please.

    Wow.

I think your tin foil hat is a little too tight.

you are right. The confederacy has lain dormant for nigh on a hundred and 50 years, scheming for its return to power via the mechanism of maintaining a decreptit cemetary.

If someone wants to mow my lawn for free, heck, I will let them. If I dont like them, I can always keep the blinds closed

    dear scv,

i am told that there are some dead confederates buried in my yard. could you all come by to clean up my yard and paint my house?

And I, for one, welcome our new landscaping overlords….

There are sticks readily at hand near the cemetery that could be sharpened…
