Sunday, July 29 3:30 PM: Black Sunday @ Chimborazo Park
An effort to promote unity and good times within our community. Events are geared towards all races and ages. People are encouraged to bring out their families and lawn chairs for a day of networking, unity and relaxation.
There will be guests from the NBA, NFL, music industry, car and bike
clubs, soroities and fraternities. Also attending are Power 92.1 Jamz’s
own Kmonte and Dj Swirv Deniro. There will be K-9, horse and motorcycle
demonstrations by the Richmond Police Department and demonstrations by
the Fire Department of Richmond.
Monday, July 30 7:00 PM: Friends of Jefferson Park/Union Hill Civic Association meeting
Meet at Que Pasa, at the intersection of 25th and M, to learn about the status of owner John Sanchez’s application for a special use permit. Other items on the agenda may include an update on the proposed rezoning of 1903 East Marshall Street and a report on the first meeting of the exploratory committee looking into the possibility of a Union Hill Old & Historic District.

2nd Annual Richmond Tenants’ Organization Public Rally – (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
on The Future of Public Housing – guest speakers, refreshments, door prizes, sponsored by the Richmond NAACP and the Legal Aid justice Center;
from the flyer: RRHA has big plans for public housing. What are those plans? What does it mean for our community? Come make your voice heard!
The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) is currently planning to redevelop certain Richmond public housing communities in order to create mixed income neighborhoods. While public housing residents are most directly affected, any decision about the future of housing for our most vulnerable families affects us all. RTO wholeheartedly supports the creation of vibrant, mixed-income communities, and we simply want to make sure that stable housing for the elderly, disabled, and other low-income families is not reduced in the process. So we invite the greater Richmond community to join us in this educational opportunity. All Richmond City Council members, Mayor Wilder, and US Representative Bobby Scott have been invited to participate as well.
