Our family lives in the home next to the one that caught fire yesterday. Luckily I was working from home at the time. Richmond Fire crews deserve recognition (when don’t they?) for such a fast andcomprehensive response. While the property at the site of the fire was very damaged, thanks to the RFD’s efforts our neighbor’s and our family’s homes were spared what could have been much more tragic results.
We’ve posted an album of photos from the “event” here:

To everyone in Church Hill living in older historic homes: please make sure your fire detectors are in working order, your neighbors have you emergency contact information and you have a fire inspection done once a year. These types of things are preventable and shouldn’t be a risk in our community.
safe,
and sound,
Etienne & Maia LaVallee
