I live just a block or so away from that awful store. I left the windows open last night and sat up late watching the Motorcycle Diaries…good movie by the way…I just thought someone was barbecuing late night. I hope they demolish the charred remains quickly.

John, what does beer smell like when it burns?

  11. posted by j at March 29, 2007 11:40 am :

Probably not as bad as the black plastic bags the beer goes in.

I remember the store, but dont remember if it was an historical structure- modified to be a corner store.

There are quite a few buildings in Church Hill that have historic value, but there current-use detracts from their true architectural value.

Jumpin J’s was a corner store at one time, but it has now evolved into a positive spot in the community- from its wood floors to its metal ceiling- we are now able to appreciate its origins as a neighborhood pharmacy.

Just to let anyone interested I have been calling the city a lot lately about this place because the condemned notice expires this month. It seems it may have worked, there is a second dumpster outside on 24th.
