Friends of Jefferson Park will meet at 6pm on Monday at 2018 Princess Anne Avenue, followed by a cookout in the Park. Please bring a covered dish to share–the FOJP will provide drinks, grill, meat, bread, condiments, and paper products.

Lt. Jack King of the Police Department and Larry Miller, Tariq Waajid, and Emanuel Adediran from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities plan to be in attendance. I am not sure if there will be a representative from the Department of Public Works present.

There will be information available on the Block Captain Program; 100 NEW Trees for Union Hill; and the Union Hill Civic Association (Their next meeting is 9/6, 7pm, 711 N 23rd); and other Community Information.

The FOJP meeting was well attended. The group appreciated that both Councilperson Delores McQuinn and her November opponent Reggie Malone were in attendance.

Despite the rain, we held the cookout and the food was great- especially the brownies.

The four priorities that came out of the meeting were: 1) Park Security and the raising of the Tree Canopy and park lighting 2) Vegetation Control- especially on the hillside and along Cedar Street 3) Traffic Issues, especially at the corner of 21st/Princess Anne/Leigh Streets 4) Park facility maintenance Issues.
