Board sets plan for Whitcomb Court Elementary students

The School Board approved a plan that will move students in eight elementary schools in order to absorb students from Whitcomb Court Elementary. The board rejected a plan that would’ve kept the students together by moving them to the Martin Luther King Middle School campus. [via]

7th District Round Table notes

The 7th District Round Table met this evening for the first time. Chaired by the Sharon Burton, the meeting was designed to move towords getting the new system, a replacement for the Neighborhood Teams, up and running.

The goal of the meeting is to establish a means to provide grass-roots community feedback to the City Administration. Union Hill Association Meet & Greet this Friday

shooting on 20th street

Two people were wounded last night at about 10:20pm in a shooting in the 900 block of North 20th Street. Police were looking for three men seen leaving the area in a late-model sedan. [via]

man in river identified

A man whose body was found in the James River on Sunday morning was identified as Stone Edward Hope, 57, of the 3200 block of P Street. Mr. Hope had been reported missing nearly two weeks earlier. According to a Henrico County police spokesman, there were no obvious signs of trauma to Hope’s body. [via]

shooting at Jessamine and Burton

Officers called to the intersection of Burton and Jessamine just after 4:30am Saturday found a black male in his mid-40s to late 50′s facedown in the alley. Residents say they heard gunshots around 2:30am but didn’t think the shots were coming from the area. [via]
