After looking at these table, I had a few questions perhaps someone could answer. What is the PDs geographic definition of Union Hill? and has this geography been consistent though the reporting periods? Can we also get calls for service data for our community?
Anyway, I know this is a pretty standard reporting comparison, but there is often a good amount of natural variability of crime offenses even in the same months over time (especially in such a relatively small geography). I would rather see a rolling annual average reported. Is there any hypothesis forthcoming as to why violent crime has gone down 40% and property crime 33%? Have calls for service gone up as well? Can police report more reactive activity in the community attributed to additional call reponses; and/or more proactive activity related to more patrol hours logged in our area and engagement with community groups?
where do all the stolen ladders figure into this?
If you go to the police website, you may be able to contact someone who can show you an annual report. Again, SIGN UP FOR THE FREE RICHMOND CITY POLICE CRIME PREVENTION ACADEMY! There is so much information there. They will be able to show you the months that violent crimes go down and thefts go up, what happens to stolen ladders and other much needed information to keep crime down in your neighborhood.
The police caught someone stealing a ladder just the other day. As far as the rest of them, they go to a scrap yard or recycling center as soon as they can get them there. Additionally, the sector policing model is working and the police are getting to know the people (good and bad) that live in the area. The police are happy that crime is down, community support is up and the quality of life is improving!
I lost both an aluminum ladder and walkboard a month ago chained to the exterior wall of the Imperial Broom Co. at high noon under a surveillance camera and still no results from the PD…..oh and now I can’t get my tape of the event back. Afraid we’re on our own up here folks.
