brick thieves?

Walking around Fairmount and Union Hill, there are 10-15 foot stretches of the sidewalk where the bricks have been removed.

Bricks missing from in front of 2002 Fairmount Avenue

The missing bricks are always the old bricks and the stretches are almost always in front of an empty house. The sidewalk is not being repaired in these instances and there are no signs of any utility work.

This is something that has been catching my eye for the past year at least, and I’ve spent too much time wondering about it. Someone must be stealing the bricks to reuse or sell, right? But they’ve never been seen or caught, somehow.

yeah, i have wondered the same. missing bricks on 22nd and m as well.

but it does seem rather intense to be a ‘brick thief’, eh?

thing is, my wife called the police general info line, and they couldnt be bothered. they mentioned to her that it was a public utilities matter?

Larceny is always a police matter. Please call when there is ANY criminal matter afoot. The officers are very busy at times in the day but they will get there. Try to get a license number and description of the vehicle and person if possible. If you have a problem with the non emergency number, call the precinct.

someone must have a large patio going their backyard. probably find them down at caravatti’s or that other salvage yard.

There was a very large pallet of bricks at Caravatti’s on Friday. Hhhmmmm…….. we’ll have to see about that.

Thing is those look like pavers, much thinner than bricks. I think people sometimes use architectural salvage yards like a pawn shop, a friend of mine found some pocket doors of his that had gone missing that way.

Another call for someone stealing bricks again.

Try to get us a description and a license plate number when you call. Oh…. make sure you know where they are or at least where you are.

    Non-emergency communications number is 646-3602.
