520 North 31st Street to be demolished?
520 North 31st Street, located at the corner of North 31st & Leigh streets, is in jeopardy of being torn down. The owner has applied for a demolition permit for the building but will not demolish the building if someone is interested in renovating it.

A fatal stabbing this morning became the area’s first killing since July 2nd, breaking an unheard of 3-month quiet spell.

wrapping’em up
Calvin Morgan yesterday pled guilty to the murder of Billy Graham back in May. Also yesterday, Brian O. Smith, a resident of the 2200 block of Fairmount Avenue and one of two defendants in the Jan. 23 shooting death of a man in Creighton Court, was convicted of second-degree murder.

night becomes day
The RPD lit up the 1200 block of 24th Street tonight for several hours with a truly honkin’ spotlight in an attempt to disrupt crime. In addition, officers were out in force tonight meeting and greeting residents in the area of the Fairmount neighborhood bounded by Q, 22nd, and 24th Streets and Fairmount Avenue.

Walking around Fairmount and Union Hill, there are 10-15 foot stretches of the sidewalk where the bricks have been removed.

public housing residents “concerned about proposal to eliminate housing projects”
nbc12.com is reporting that many public housing residents showed up at City Hall Wednesday to voice their concerns to City Council about the RRHA’s plan to do away with housing projects.
